Howdy-hey!

What's crackalackin'? Stumbled onto this (like a boss) and the chances are very likely that I'll start combing through the rest of your songs.

I'm a sucker for anything 8-bit, least of all anything poetically 8-bit. Your little blurb in the comments just sort of sealed the deal for me. That's the sort of winsome feeling I have when I listened to the song, put briefly in a few sentences.

Gotta respect someone with that ability.

I don't need oxygen up here! I don't need sound! I just need the lights, and the stars, right?

LLAAPPSSEE responds:

Thats excellent to hear (this is the second review i'm coming across, so I look forward to scrolling down my song list). I do hope all the tracks have something interesting that climbs into your ears.

Love me some 8-bit melodies as well.

lights and stars for sure.

RAAAAA!

^that about sums it up.

But no, really. Your songs are delicious. Your capacity for melody AND it's backdrop astounds me. You give your songs the perfect stage, and no matter how scant the props, the cast works. If you understand my poor, 3AM metaphors.

broove responds:

3am is a perfect time for great ideas. Thank you for your poetic reviews, they are fun to read. And again - I'm really glad that you like my stuff :)

Hello.

Regardless of gender and marital status, come and sweep me off my feet at once.

broove responds:

Now I'm 100% sure that you're a guy :E

I'm floating.

This is the kind of song I usually have playing when I'm studying, or just feelin' chill. Definitely makes me feel like I'm drifting unhinged and unhindered through a 'sapphire sky' with nothing else.

Wewhew. Me gusta mucho.

If I close my eyes, my toes leave the ground.

LiquidEcstacy responds:

:)

I love the synth I made for the melody.

Yes.

Off-kilter, progressive in that it moves forward and doesn't look back.

I'm a sucker for any solid-sounding piano, and I'm a sucker for any human being who sounds like they know what they're doing behind said piano -- no matter how short the song.

The breaks in tempo (if you can call them that) are yummy. This is something I could leave sit on loop for a while as I check my mail and update my facebook status to -- "is currently grooving to a groovalicious groove."

Gebz responds:

You know, I just gave a thumbs up to my computer screen as well as had a mini-jam in the same style as this. And I don't think you could see it, or hear it even. But, you know, just saying.

Gotta say ..

.. love the rolling snare. Gave the song a precise uniformity even as swathes of synth just gamboled around in the back. Thunder was a nice touch. I want your percussion samples ..

LiquidEcstacy responds:

You want Reason 4.0 stock drums? Otay :P

I love you.

For this song. Just pure, dark and moody nostalgia. I really appreciate the bright piano notes, and then the melancholy tone of the rest of the song .. starts to fragment when the glitching drums come in. But that just adds to the rest of it.

It tells a story. Your story, my story. Who knows.

Marry me. At once.

LiquidEcstacy responds:

On my way.

Sick!

Love the Speed Racer line!

There's great build and it has lots of smooth elements, but I would LOVE to hear a bigger kick after " .. they don't destroy him first .. "

Like, I mean, WOW. That line could be the climax of the song, and there is no real climax. That's all I'd go back and change.

Michael425 responds:

Yeah the speed racer quote fit in perfectly. Thanks for the suggestions.

Thanks for the review.

IM IN UR COLLECTION STALKIN UR SONGZ

Ahem. Control yourself, Sato. -_-

If this is the underwater track you were talking about on mine (do you like how I deduced that by the title?) then I approve heavily. The piano does a lot to carry it with those chords, and then the daintier work up top. I feel like the synth is a bit too strong when it comes in .. maybe give it some more texture .. but the overall effect is nice.

The beat is nicely muted .. I like it in the background. Gives it a neat little pulse. Yep. The synth is a bit too strong for my ears, but it actually gives the feel of a tide rushing in and out, in and out. So. Whatever.

Feels like it shouldn't be four minutes without a climax, without a place its aiming for, so - ah. There it is. Drumbreak at about 3:16. This is why I should wait to write reviews AFTER the song is done.

Well, this review is way more obnoxiously long than my other ones. You will excuse me. Although, over 3k characters does seem like a tempting limit ..

.. but I will control myself, as we have discussed before.

Sheesh, I'm a freak. :D

GronmonSE responds:

I <3 your review.

And I'm late yet again :D

Oh, also ..

.. I'm going to stalk your newgrounds collection, because of the nice review you made of my song. kthnx.

Anyways - the kick came at :34ish and I was like LOL!

Not like LOL as in IMLAUGHING@U but LOL as in THIS IS AWESOME. There's great build and smooth melody - didn't expect the vox, but they're a nice touch. I would have liked to se them worked into what happens for the rest of the song. Either make a bigger deal of the vocals - or bring them back more often. They seem like something you'd build to, not something you'd put in the beginning and seem to forget about.

GronmonSE responds:

I love when someone stalks my NG collection <3

Glad you liked how I made the build up. I was going to make the intro a little longer, but I ran out of time for the competition. The vocals were really just a test. Hard to believe I used a laptop mic for those. I considered adding them for the second verse but I got lazy :P I -might- redo this whole song and turn it into vocal trance. MIGHT. Depends on how I feel I guess.

I REFUSE TO FOLLOW YOUR SILLY LONG RESPONSE TREND. Or, y'know, I can't really come up with a longer response, but thanks for the review :D

Your collection's got a new stalker ;)
