Mm .. like the tone.

Has a slick tone to it, very dark and cool. I could see this being in a movie trailer in its broader moments.

At first I wasn't sure how I felt about the EQ in the beginning, but as the song went on it opened up and filled out more .. yummy, all the way through.

The piano really carried it, legit.

S-Rock responds:

Thank you vm :D

Siiick. Mad sick. Way sick.

Your beats are wicked. There really is a feel of 'haze' here past the clarity of the drums. Gotta love it. Just pure energy from start to finish, and those waves of synth towards the medal are like mind-blowing. Then it kicks back in, hard, to finish me off.

:D :D

I feel like once I get this onto my iPod, I'll notice a lot more done with mixing, bass, stuff like that. What's in one ear, out the other. So i'll just congratulate you on that beforehand, as I'm heading to download it right now!

xerochi responds:

Well golly gee thanks!! :)

Missing your music, that's how I've been.

Has a slightly more organic feel to it, this one. Glad to see you still putting out tracks, Nub. Your beats are still as slick as ever.

nubbinownz responds:

haha I just put this little diddy out to let you guys know i'm still alive. Don't worry I am well aware this is nothing too exciting. I'll be putting out a teaser here in the next couple of days so keep checking back. Working on another one that's been continually melting my brain.

I hate being lost in thought.

Words, thoughts, feelings I once buried just sort of wander their way across my mind's eye. It's not a pleasant line-up. It's full of 'What-Could-I-Have-Dones' and 'I-Wish-I-Hadn't-Said-What-I-Saids'; loads of 'em, actually.

Anyhoozle (I say that way too often these days :P) to be put in such a weightless state by a three minute song is either a nod to how tired I am, or how much your music affects people. I'm thinking it's 99% the latter .. though my eyes do feel like they've been coated in lead.

Hold off on that search party, because I think I just found myself.

nubbinownz responds:

Thank you very much for your wonderful reviews. I really do enjoy them ! :D Though my responses have gotten very slow nowadays

Somber.

Like it. Has a dark blue sort of pulse to it. Despite whatever sadness there is, our feet keep walking and our breaths keep coming. I like it.

You will find me almost always complaining about the length of a song. This is one of those where the thought is there, it just feels like it needs to be .. expanded. Not sure what I'm trying to say.

Anyways, very slick track. Me gusta mucho.

GronmonSE responds:

Laaaate response, hadn't noticed this one, sorry. Yeah, it's on the short side indeed.

I released a much better version of this song a long time ago though. Could give it a listen if you want, I like it more.

Thanks for your review!

YESH!!

More Nub for my itunes library!

Welcome back, broseph!

nubbinownz responds:

Thank you! It's good to be back.

I chased you for so long.

There was nothing perceptively evil about him. No narrowed, glittering eyes, no cruel or sharp angles to his body. He was almost too normal, too human-looking. My Death was even-tempered, polite, and he drove a very nice car.

"Shall we go for a ride?"

The Corvette whisked along, engine thrumming. We sat in silence, and I was the first to break it. The question was a genuine one, yet I didn't care much for the answer.

"Are you going to kill me?"

He glanced into the rearview, smiling pleasantly, "I haven't decided yet."

"But it's crossed your mind?"

"Of course!" It was the smile of a shark.

The miles trickled by. I saw days and I saw years.

"They call you a monster."

"And they call *you* a hero. We are both so poorly misrepresented, don't you agree?"

"Not really."

"Shame," He clucked his tongue, "It seems we have come to an impasse."

"You could have killed me when you came before," I leaned back against the pressed leather, "Why wait till now?"

"To be fair, I did say that I haven't yet decided." Again, a flitting glance in the mirror, "Why pursue the matter? I left you alive. Most humans would leave it at that. And here you are, seeking me out personally. Very peculiar."

"I'm not 'most humans'."

"No, I daresay not. You're not afraid of me."

"Should I be?"

"They all are."

A touch of pride in his voice. He enjoyed being what he was. I curled a lip.

"So you *did* kill her, then?"

"Ah, the crux of the matter. I did, yes. Not out of anything personal against mothers, mind you. In fact--my own mother was a fine woman. If I were capable, I think I would have loved her." The shoulders rose and fell in a shrug, "What happens, happens."

"You are an animal."

"Aren't we all?"

nubbinownz responds:

well shit... absolutely beautiful.

ohh...

So beautiful.

Listening to it with headphones, alone in the dark is just really something else. The mastering is what makes it--the notes at the pauses lead into each other with just enough hesitation that you almost physically lean in, waiting for the next droplets.

I've learned to play this song by ear, and when alone in a dark church sanctuary with just the gaping openness, and a grand piano on the stage--it really is quite extraordinary. This song makes me feel more than human.

The build, as I said, just makes you lean in and wait for each weighted hammer to fall. Wowzers. :P I can go on and on but it might just make you bored.

The climax at the end is epic.

Thank you for letting me hear this song.

broove responds:

I'm actually convinced that mastering isn't done properly. The sound is warm, but at loud volumes it's too muddy.

Glad it made you feel that way though and thanks for an awesome review ;)

Straight up, son.

I get these fantasies often! :o!

"How dare you interfere!"

Your titles and your voice samples are what draw me to your music. That, and the ability to tell a story in just a few minutes time. This story is full of high-paced battle action. Winsawce, dare I say?

nubbinownz responds:

Only if you darE!!! ahha thank you for the reviews man, I really appreciate the feedback :D

:D!!

As usual, the titles of your songs always catch my eye. You might not be entirely satisfied with it, but to me it's slick, smooth, and goes down without a problem. Downloading and rating 5!

nubbinownz responds:

Thank you sato! I personally feel like I don't put enough thought into the titles of my songs. I can never seem to focus on it too much. I usually go with the first thing that pops into my head when I give the final version a full listen through :)
